| 454416 | 2006-05-12 09:18:00 | I'm taking penicillin for my sore throat, would it be wise to have a few drinks whilst on these antibiotics? Providing you are standing on one leg,I think it is all right to do so. |

| 454420 | 2006-05-12 09:47:00 | Jimmy, usually when I am prescribed medicine, I go to the Walgreens (USA Chemist) website and study the fine print of that medicine. Sometimes I go to the manufacturers site. It is better than whatever the doctor and / or chemist did or did not tell you about the drug. Once after an operation I was put on Vioxx anti-inflammatory - egods, the side effects were terrible, so bad that I checked myself in to the ER of our local hospital at 2 AM, leaving my wife sleeping - ha! The fine print with Vioxx said to contact medical help if heart problems persist. The ER staff appreciated the printed web pages I brought with me. The specialist was taken aback when I told him a month later that I was no longer on Vioxx and I did not need a doctor's permission to quit. I wonder what the %#$X^%#! thought when two months later Vioxx was withdrawn due to heart attacks, etc.?! I suggest that you Google whatever you are taking or go to Walgreens or a similar site and see what it says. |

| 454423 | 2006-05-12 11:18:00 | Quote from the NZ Medsafe site: "Avoid drinking alcohol while taking CILICAINE VK and for several days after completing a course of treatment with CILICAINE VK." Cilicaine VK is Penicillin. |

| 454424 | 2006-05-12 11:32:00 | Recently I was prescribed 2 different AB's....with one of them, both my GP and the pharmacist (and it also had a yellow label on it stating NO ALCOHOL) stressed not to have any alcohol while taking and to allow a couple of days after as well. The other, that was prescribed for a longer period, didn't have any warnings, but I decided I was better off without my usual "glass of red" while I was on the medication. Anti biotics all finished now..and wine club is on Monday night....yay!!! Hope your sore throat is better now. Cheers, Marnie |
