454268 2006-05-12 03:03:00 For all I care Theresa Gattung and her pocket-pis*ing cronies can stand on their heads! The culture of lies-by-omission and arrogance seem to part of Telecom's business plan, sanctified by their so-called "competitive model". It's really much simpler than that - it's just plain old me-me-me greed. braindead (1685)
454269 2006-05-12 03:33:00 She has done an outstanding job for her employers. Regardless of our opinion of Telecom, and the tactics used, she has performed way above & beyond. If you had an employee who consistently returned increasing profits what would you put on his/her assessment

What needs to be done is to force Telecom to become a good corporate citizen. Removing the monopoly it has on the copper wire might achieve that but do we have politicians with the spericals to get on with it  No monopolistic entity has ever been a good corporate citizen.

The politicians created the monopoly not Telecom, it's now up to the politicians to sort out their sphericals-up.

454270 2006-05-12 03:34:00 Aren't you being a bit naive if you think that you can single out Telecom? The other companies haven't jumped up denying that they'd ever practised marketing by confusion. Haven't you ever walked around a supermarket trying to comparison shop and wondered why everything was in different sized packets?
It would be faster to compile a list of companies that are dead straight with customers.

454272 2006-05-12 04:32:00 I pretty much agree with Bulwark . As a company Telecom has done very well for their shareholders, while providing a service to the public in a monopolistic and unregulated (for them at least) environment . There is no reason why Telecom should do anything about the public bleating over data caps, unless the govt raises a big stick .

In that respect Theresa (sounds way too like Mother Teresa to me!) has done a good job- maximise returns to shareholders while providing 'some sort of service' and holding the line against those who would want a piece of the pie . She may be intelligent and business savvy, but I don't think she should be the public face of Telecom . . . she just isn't believable in front of a camera .

As I see it, the problem for Telecom is one that faces Microsoft . The public perception of the company is 'a monopolistic ogre' and whether or not the perception is accurate, Joe Bloggs will jump ship as fast as a rat down a rope at the first sign of an alternative . Most companies find it very hard to come back from a position of their clients bleeding away after being bled dry .

rant over :D

454275 2006-05-12 08:34:00 shes done a good job?

her money making tactics just wiped 2 billion off the company and a good portion of the customer base view the entire company as theives, All her "work" has had a negative effect, and lets face it, with the business model and monopoly in place before she took over she would have to be a stupid monkey to ruin it, WHICH IS EXACTLY WHAT SHE HAS DONE, Played everyone for a fool, abused her customer base, and played hardball with the Government, Who simply said enough (had to happen, even a monkey could see it was on the way).

As to wether she should stand down, no idea, dont care, but if it means never having to see her mug again, be it on TV,Print media, or that stupid add up above then Im all for it. Great face for a boat anchor.
