454640 2006-05-16 10:32:00 That's cool Lazydog and I'm certainly interested. Happy to wait until you get your website up and that's a great idea. Birdsong is something I miss in a city.

In the meantime I have a confession. This evening I thought I'd have an idle look at Xtra's ringtones. As I had previously thought, there were myriad badly rendered pop/rock tunes, some virtually unrecognisable. But by pure chance when I was about to close the tab, I stumbled across - you guessed it - a tui tone!!! Who'd have believed Xtra would have birdsongs.

So I'm now $4.95 poorer but I have to say it is very realistic. There is a morepork there too. Under Alert -> Sound Effects for anyone interested. Made my day.

454642 2007-01-28 21:57:00 For editing your tones including Maximizing the volume:
Goldwave

For conversion to WMA / MP3 / WAV (Depending on phone support):
Goldwave

For conversion to MP4 AAC (might need to be named .m4a on some phones):
Xilisoft MP4 Encoder (Set: Video = Disable)

The nokia phones that Ive played with have preferred .m4a files, but it wasnt that same model, could be wrong as some I know prefer MP3s

If you play around Winston001 you'll be sure to find tones online that you can convert and send to your phone using a data cable and the right software :)

I have about 20 tones on my Motorola v1075 (e1070) which I can adjust to suit my mood. Didnt cost a cent, all made by yours truely ;) Its quite satisfying hearing a ringtone you've actually converted / created yourself each time your phone goes off.

..and if I remember rightly the speakers in those Nokia phones are pretty good volume-wise?

454644 2007-01-31 10:49:00 The Nokia Software Suite does that kinda thing for Nokia phones doesnt it? Chilling_Silence (9)
454645 2007-11-26 01:48:00 I googled for ages but simply cannot find it anywhere so just wondered if anybody had such a ringtone or knew of a site. Indeed any suggestions for other unusual or novel types of ringtones would be welcome.

454647 2007-11-29 08:37:00 Hi Winston, some Nokia phones use amr files for ringtones, to get a file converter, you register on the Nokia home site & download "Ringtone Converter" then use one of the previously mentioned methods of loading the file to your phone, cheers Whenu (9358)
454648 2007-11-29 17:46:00 Try www.tonesofhome.co.nz
