698039 2008-08-17 10:21:00 Since format and reinstall of xp prof I cant see the 2 little computer monitor icons.
Looked at the options on connection tab on tools cant find an option to put them up.

Bios question since clean installation of xp shoud I download and install a bios update from mother board manufacturer as well.
Everything seems to be going ok at the moment should I risk it and update the bios?
Thanks for help I never really had to fix computers before just took them to work where a geek sorted it out and all I had to do was take it home and plug in the cables and turn it on.
The geek has since split to drive trains at a mine in wa.

thanks for help so far

698040 2008-08-17 10:29:00 For first question:
Go into network connections, right-click LAN, click Properties, and select "Show icon in notification area..."

Bios is ok without update (I think) - get another opinion though :)

698042 2008-08-17 11:09:00 Did you get your video driver installed?
Found your drivers here (downloadcenter.intel.com), you need to install items 2 to 6.
Dont mess with the bios unless you need/have to, very easy to kill the motherboard if you do it wrong!

698043 2008-08-17 11:44:00 Thanks feersumendjinn
No having problem with installing video driver will work thru readme and do as they say to do it.
I wasnt going to download 6 but I will take your advice and download additional chipset drivers.
Will take your advice and not mess with bios.
As my old man says if its going alright leave it alone.

Thanks for help

698044 2008-08-17 12:00:00 Actually you are correct in not installing #6, as #2 appears to be a later version of the same file, sorry I didnt see that before.:(
Your old man is very wise.

698045 2008-08-18 02:05:00 Bugger I installed #6 first thing this morning but everything is going well thanks feersumenddjinn.

698046 2008-08-18 02:10:00 The chipset drivers (2, since its a later version), should be installed STRAIGHT after Windows has been installed.

Then the LAN / sound / video . It doesnt matter what order you install these in.

698048 2008-08-18 02:49:00 Dont think it matters, it'll install the same files anyway

Just as long as theyre installed, it should be fine
