Some people do. You know there isn't a law on how many you can own? Unlike dogs. Nor will the SPCA go and check out a property unless there is obvious signs of cruelty or extreme neglect? Minor neglect is OK apparently. I have 3 cats but I have a big enough garden of my own that they don't have to hunt out some neighbours place for their necessities. And they all got neutered at 6 months of age too. Which is the main problem. I think this guy quoted in the article may have a dog hes being made to microchip. I agree its stupid and won't help the problem with the odd wandering biting dog. All pets should be required to be neutered and massive fines and confiscation imposed if they don't except for licensed breeders. That would cure the problem with both dogs and cats. Oh and it should apply to people too. |

| 454006 | 2006-05-12 06:47:00 | Having only licensed breeders allowed to have cats which have not been desexed horrifies me. We would end up with the same situation the dog world has got into with its terrifying freaks - dogs unable to breath properly, physical attributes which look more like deformities. Give me a good old mongrel any day (although I am rather drawn to greyhounds myself). I might add that we do own a couple of Abysinian cats and a true Heinz special. ALL neutered. But please we must let the cat world breed naturally to a reasonable extent. Tom |
