Try this;
1. Click Start, right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
2. In the System Properties dialog box, click the Advanced tab.
3. In the Performance pane, click Settings.
4. In the Performance Options dialog box, click the Advanced tab.
5. In the Virtual memory pane, click Change.
6. Change the Initial size value and the Maximum size value to a higher value, click Set, and then click OK.
7. Click OK to close the Performance Options dialog box, and then click OK to close the System Properties dialog box.

699119 2008-08-21 05:36:00 increasign the vm size will help but really the issue is that the system has used up or largely used the available PHYSICAL memory (ram) so .......either it could do with more, and ram is very cheap (I bought a 512mb for my new laptop to take it from 1gb to 1.5gb cost $20), and or the system has too much rubbish runnin at startup and anyting at all that 'runs' either in the background or obviously, (such as programs which appear in the system tray [lower right hand side of the screen] when you start up) well they ALL use ram........so if you weed out the startup programs a bit.....that'll also help.......try clik start/run then type in msconfig then tap enter then clik on the 'startup' tab in the msconfig box and untick any update stuff or other unnecessary crap .......theres bound to be some ! drcspy (146)
