| 698756 | 2008-08-19 21:33:00 | I built a new pc, specs are: Asus M3A / AMD dual-core / 2GB RAM / 320GB SATAII / Asus EAH3850 512mb graphics card - all brand new components It has WinXPH SP3 on it. All windows updates / .net / directx / antivirus /etc are the latest for XPH It starts and runs perfectly until you try to restart it or shut down and start up again. At which point it will freeze at the Windows Logo screen with the annimated blue dots. If you hit the reset button it will only freeze again when it reaches the same point. If you turn of the power at the PSU or unplug it, it will boot up the next time without fail. So, as long as the power to the box is disconnected/reconnected the computer will boot up fine. If the computer is simply shut down or restarted, it will freeze on boot up. I then completely reformatted the HDD again and reinstalled OS/updates/drivers etc - still the same problem I thought the 300watt PSU might be inadequate so replaced it with a 500watt unit - still the same problem I replaced the RAM with a different brand - still the same problem I replaced the graphics card with a nVidia one of the similar spec - still the same problem any ideas?? |

| 698757 | 2008-08-19 22:08:00 | Did you install the chipset drivers before the LAN / sound / NIC drivers?? If you dont install these, a system can get unstable Update the BIOS. As one of them are for: 0702 BIOS for M3A 1. Fixed AM2+ CPU ratio x.5 clock show error. 2. fixed some certain blue ray DVD can't be detected issue. 3. fixed the issue that the system freezing when using some certain VGA card. What version of the BIOS is on it? The BIOS is now up to 1001 |

| 698758 | 2008-08-19 22:18:00 | Chipset /Lan /sound drivers are all bundled in a automated "motherboard drivers" install from the CD - you dont get a choice of install order. The BIOS update is worth a crack tho :) |

| 698759 | 2008-08-20 02:23:00 | It did have 0702 BIOS Upgraded to 1001 BIOS but made no difference to the problem. It will restart into safe-mode, eventually, after being stuck on Mup.sys for about a minute. Starting to think it might be something to do with service pack 3, unfortunately there is no way to roll that back to sp2 without reinstalling again. |

| 698760 | 2008-08-20 02:32:00 | Mup.sys usually hangs for a few secs/mins when you boot into safe mode. Did you set the default settings after you flashed the BIOS, then reconfigure the settings in the BIOS? What AV program, did you install? |
