698424 2008-08-18 22:16:00 I'm trying to upgrade my RAM .

My board has 4 slots . Currently houses two 512mb corsair 800mhz, and i'm trying to put a pair of 1GB rams into the remaining slots . But i don't know which ones to buy . . . . . . .

Is the ddr2-800mhz better than a 667mhz?

And do i need to install both of them with the same latency?

698425 2008-08-18 22:19:00 Well if the mobo supports dual chanel ram, all sticks should / must be the same speed/brand etc.

Otherwise, it'll run in single channel mode. Which maybe a lot slower than dual channel mode

But if youre not worried about dual/single channel ram, put anything you want in it.

Obviously 800 is better and probably faster than 667

698426 2008-08-18 22:23:00 Although it shouldn't matter too much, you may as well get exactly the same type/speed/latency for the 2x 1GB RAM.

I guess the latency is CL5? (5-5-5-12)

Get 2x 1 GB Corsair matched pair DDR2 800, at whatever latency the other chips are. You'll be away laughing.
