698400 2008-08-18 05:22:00 New Vista laptop connecting wireless to an older Dynalink 4 port wireless router. Not sure of the model number as not in front of me.

Have configured the wireless with SSID and no security. Laptop finds wireless and connects but has "limited connection". Have set a static IP and disabled TCP/IP V6 with no effect.

No firewalls except OS one. Properties shows data sent but none received.

ideas??

698401 2008-08-18 06:14:00 Whats the make / model of the wireless router?
Is it also your DSL modem? Or do you have a modem/router connected seperately?
What happens if you plug the laptop in to a wired port in the back of the wireless router?

698402 2008-08-18 07:01:00 Dynalink router/modem all in one unit. As posted not sure of the model as not here. Wired works fine just the wireless shows connected with limited connection even though it has a static IP. berryb (99)
698403 2008-08-19 01:57:00 Just to clarify, can we assume you have set static ip's on BOTH the cable and wireless interfaces? linw (53)
698404 2008-08-19 21:33:00 Works fine wired using DHCP with TCP/IP V6 on. Finds wireless and connects but doesn't get an IP address from DHCP. No data is received. Makes no difference with a static IP on wireless, same result.

Next time I'm onsite I will take my own laptop and try to connect. Maybe an issue with the router.
