456917 2006-05-22 20:54:00 Yeah, so I have a headache. Now I have the choice, do I want to enjoy the pleasure of the headache a while longer by taking a regular Panadol, or shall I use the "Rapid" version for quicker relief.

Yeah right...

Similar the "New, Improved Formula" washing powers. If it's "new", how can it be "improved", if it is "improved" it can hardly be called "new" then since you can only improve on something existing.

Wonder how many ppl get duped by these ads without thinking about the lack of logic.

456918 2006-05-22 21:02:00 yeh marketing lol.......watch out for those 'concentrated' dishwash/laundry detergents.....theres NO advantage in it except for the manufacturer......in this way: .....if concentrated its MUCH easier for you to put more in than you need.....thus they sell more product lol drcspy (146)
456919 2006-05-22 21:09:00 You rare asking do I want paracetamol or do I want paracetamol?

Actually I take aspirin. The drug companies have done a good job of promoting their paracetamol and scaring everyone into thinking old original aspirin is really bad for you - cause it might give you stomach problems, while not mentioning paracetamol causes kidney and liver damage.

Never mind that you would need eat a LOT of them in the first place.

456920 2006-05-22 21:21:00 Unless Panadol "Rapid" comes as an effervescent drink in NZ, it's just Acetaminophen, which is just:

Tylenol
MotrinIB
Advil
Entrophen
Anacin

and is available as a tablet, caplet, ointment, suspension (liquid) and my favorite, a suppository!

Hi Joe. That's something we have not had the pleasure of seeing on local TV here yet.

The real reason is that Aspirin is now free from any patents and they (the drug companies) don't make as much money off it, because anyone can make it now.

Aha, try finding some. Rare as hens teeth. Whereas theres masses of variations on paracetamol. I've asked, they say its lack of demand. Maybe all those "It's my choice" ads huh. The one where you are supposed to choose paracetamol.

456925 2006-05-23 01:43:00 Interesting .

"CONCLUSION: The findings from this study showed that soluble aspirin 900 mg provides significant and more rapid analgesia than paracetamol 1,000 mg in the early postoperative period after third molar surgery . "

Here ( . ncbi . nlm . nih . gov/entrez/query . fcgi?cmd=Retrieve&db=PubMed&list_uids=12598885&dopt=Abstract" target="_blank">www . ncbi . nlm . nih . gov)

Asprin can cause stomach upsets but if it is dissolved this seems to be reduced . Asprin is not recommended for asthmatics so far as I understand .

456926 2006-05-23 02:04:00 I am nearly a cot case with arthritis. When VIOXX was taken off the market the hospital specialist started me on Paracetemol to ease the pain - up to 8 a day. He said that the amount of normal asprin needed would cause significant stomach upset. I get them on a three-monthly script by the bag load. No side effects as yet and I suppose you have to trust someone sometime. Scouse (83)
