455378 2006-05-16 16:53:00 I am all alone on the site now, as I think I have been for an hour or so...where are youse guys?

Hopefully the Tsunami was little or nothing and caused no damage to life or property.

We got word that there was a big earthquake about 90 miles from some uninhabited island near youse guys, some time this morning (our time).

Let's get a roll-call...at least the server is still running...so there must be electricity there.

It's lonesome without SOMEONE here too!

455380 2006-05-16 17:20:00 Ta for your concerns Joe. Fortunately most of NZ is well above sea level. It's just the streams and creeks we worry most about when it comes to flooding.

Remember though that the Kermadeks are quite a long way from mainland NZ, so whatever geothermal activities happen over there have minimal consequence to us, apart from the odd idiot who wants to go volcano diving.

haha - well I'm about to log off and do some online gaming with your fellow Americans (no NZ'ers awake at this time of the morning!) .

455383 2006-05-16 18:20:00 It's bed time here Joe. Only Burglers are up at this time of day. Apart from people like me who woke up early gasping for a cup of tea. My city of Wanganui had 60mm, 2foot, of rain in the last 24hrs. The South Island had snow. As you might gather, it is just about Winter here in NZ. Enjoy your sunshine. Going back to bed in a minute. You must be in good shape if tea gets you up in the night . . . for me, it's the prostate! hahahahahah

That presents a silly question: since youse guys are inverse of what I call "normal" seasons, do you just call the cold part of the year "winter"? You have winter when we have summer .

Now, I know it's not a universal thing . . . but we are in spring yet, at least till June 22nd, then it becomes summer .

The temps here are well into the 90's now .

455385 2006-05-16 22:18:00 Yep

The cold part (starting now) is winter. Summer for us is Christmas time.

Plenty of snow on the hill and a bright crisp day. I like this time of the year!

455386 2006-05-16 22:27:00 Late autumn here Joe. But it kind of blends into winter if there is early snow. Every time of year is nice in it's own way. Winston001 (3612)
