| 699112 | 2008-08-23 01:24:00 | You've confused yourself and us with the name/function of the device you are describing . I suggest you use ST536 and DYWRT54 . For example, both are routers so when you say you are changing settings in the router, which one do you mean? You also talk about PPOE/A in relation to the 'router' . The PPOE/A are protocols that relate to the modem, not the router . You should have ignored the DYWRT54 till you got the primary PC working to the Internet . See Wainui's settings above . Then, you have to know that you have two routers each defaulting to running a DHCP server . You will be creating a network with cascading routers . See here for advice on how to set these up . comcast . net/~hqh/html/tworouters . htm" target="_blank">home . comcast . net In short, let the ST536 do the donkey work, including DHCP . Then turn off DHCP on the DYWRT54 - you don't want two DHCP servers running . Do this by connecting directly to the LAN port of this device . Next, attach the DYWRT54 to the ST536 . (You were right in not worrying about wireless security till you get it going) . For the wirelessly connected PC, just install the USB device and that should be all that you need to do . It should default to getting its address from the DHCP server running on the ST536 . You may have it all sorted, now, but let's hear how you get/got on . Good luck! |

Thanks Linw Checked that link out and went thru some of it, it did not like me trying to set the Wan to anything else so left that, Disabled the DHCP . Couldn't change the IP of the ST536 so left that at default, changed the DYWRT54 IP to one off the ST536 eg: 192 . 168 . 1 . 253, then put an IP into the computer with the Usb adapter Wireless, and also put Xtra server IP's in and hey presto we had a connection and could share Printers and all that :) Thanks guys for the help, just wanted to let you know in case no one ever does .
