457099 2006-05-23 09:30:00 small amount of washing liquid + hot water = clean dishes

Personally, if your flatmates persist in using so much dishwashing liquid then I would continue to rinse the dishes after washing - nothing like soap bubbles appearing in your glasses when you add water .

Another tactic would be to get a duplicate bottle of washing fluid, but dilute it down by about by at least half so that they are not squirting so much in each time .

Then kick back with some chocolate ice-cream and a Chuck Norris movie.

457101 2006-05-23 09:40:00 Hehehe, this thread reminds me of my cousins.
The oldest is 18, and none of them know how to really wash the dishes...

Their mother won't let them, the lazy (Expletive).

And when they try to do so, they use the first segments of their fingers, they can't cook, or clean, and presumably have NEVER made toast before.

Oh, I've always rinsed my dishes. Coming from a takeaway family, nothing ruins a nice chow mein like the taste of sunlight. Or a combo of washing soda crystals and laundry detergent. But boy does it remove grease like nothing.

457102 2006-05-23 09:47:00 There is an old Confucian saying that "woman who cooks cabbage and peas in same pot, not clean"

To leave dishes unrinsed dishes is certainly not British :)

(bloody terrible)

457104 2006-05-23 09:56:00 Well, I do all the dishes in our house. I'm lazy, but I'm honest.

Dishes are always washed under the hot running tap. Not a drop of detergent to foul them. Never put a plug in the sink. Can't wash the dishes in dirty water.
Saucepans and fry pan the same. All non stick so a rinse is all they need. Glasses the same and then turned upside down and allowed to dry without any help.
One item I put in the sink. Pour in a good squirt of Palmolive and as splash of disenfectant. My Ashtrays.

Slightly off topic. Today I got a cleaning lady in to do the oven. I'm ashamed to say it was filthy. I gave up cleaning it over a year ago. Actualy I can't stoop down long enough to do any cleaning. Anyway two and a quarter hours later my oven looks like brand new. Best $45 I ever spent.
Trouble is I'm frightened to use the oven now. Guess it will be frying pan or microwave for a while.

457105 2006-05-23 11:23:00 We use a dish washer :), but when before we had one we use to rinse the dishes. stu161204 (123)
457106 2006-05-23 13:28:00 95% of the time using Hot water should be suffice, unless it's really really greasy SKT174 (1319)
457107 2006-05-23 14:23:00 I think it's really gross not to rinse dishes, unless they've been washed in a good quality machine. Unrinsed dishes? urk! Greg (193)

Have you tried oven roasting bags? Not too keen on them myself, but the once I tried them recently it turned out a pretty good and succulent roast. And of course no mess whatsoever in the oven. Just take care with being sure to add some flour and opening it afterwards.
