699124 2008-08-21 07:54:00 I'm trying to add to the Grub - menu 1st file, so that there is an entry which allows me to select the floppy drive as one of the OS boot options. Tried

title Floppy
root (fd0)
makeactive
chainloader +1

and some variations on that, but it still doesn't work. There is a reaction from the floppy drive, a momentary noise, but it still doesn't boot. The message is
error 12: Invalid device requested.

There is definitely a bootable floppy in the drive.

Any suggestions as to what might be wrong please?

699125 2008-08-21 08:08:00 I stand to be corrected here. But if you've got as far as grub, the computer has already booted. You just select which OS to boot. Change the boot device in bios Phil B (648)
699126 2008-08-21 08:25:00 Yes, the computer has got as far as Grub, which then brings up a list of the various operating system options that it has in the menu 1st file. I want the floppy drive to be one of those options. rumpty (2863)

rootnoverify (fd0)
chainloader +1
boot

That works. Seems that root and noverify have to be combined into one word.
