| 698989 | 2008-08-20 20:04:00 | Good morning Mrs theother1 (not computer literate) has a computer which she uses for work. The other day she complained to me that it wouldn't start and when I checked sure enough dead as the proverbial. However as it seemed to be a power problem I checked the power cable and sure enough it was a little loose. Switched on and start up again, all good. However since then it starts up but when you click on the start button (on the desk top) the whole thing freezes and thats all she wrote. Can't do a thing with it. She took it back to the suppliers here in CHCH who cleaned it and said "oh! you will have to stop using your owner profile and shift all your files over to the admin profile and access them via there." all very well but she now can't access her email account which she relies heavily on (20-50 emails a day) and several of the programs don't work for her in the admin profile. I am thinking something nasty, Trojan or something. However I can't get the thing to do anything. Have started in Safe Mode and tried to access the internet to download Hijackthis so I can post the log here but that won't work either. I apologise here 'cause I know you want to know what sort of computer it is. Best I can do is Pentium 4 3.00GHz, 0.99GB ram running XP Pro. Thanks in advance for your assistance. |
