698538 2008-08-19 02:25:00 Cant get a printer to print on my home network
OS is XP printer is 3 month old laser usb printer works fine on its computer.
Go add printer and do wizard select network printer, when it searches for printer it doesnt find the printer.
Network fine for browsing, computer I cant to print from is conected by cable to dsl-g604 router.
Tried another printer a hp f380 inkjet and it wouldnt find that one either (selected as default printer) of course.
Any help would be apreciated so son can print his homework without having to save it to memory stick and bringing it to lounge computer which has 2 usb printers attached.

698539 2008-08-19 02:27:00 So it's a real network printer (It has an ethernet port on it), or are you just sharing a USB printer over the network?

Once we know those details we'll be able to sort something out. ;)

698540 2008-08-19 02:30:00 Try this, go to control panel / printers / add printer (on the networked PC)

A network printer / next / connect to printer.

Type in \\nameofpcwithprinter\nameofprinter (make sure the printer on the main PC is shared under printer/properties/sharing tab on the main PC). Type the name of the shared printer here.

Also allow it if you have any firewalls, and make sure file/printer sharing is ticked

If its not shared it wont be seen by other PC's on the network.
