699578 2008-08-23 05:04:00 Hi there.
I have zone alarm version 611744 on my computer, but due to recent encounter with trojans, I am going to update this, however, on the site there is only a trial/pay suite antivirus and all, available and not an actual update for firewall only.
I found this on another link on the internet, version 70483 which would take 6 hours to download onto my computer (dial up). Computer is windows 2000 by the way. Is this the latest version? The reason for not updating sooner has been due to some problems I encountered each time I down loaded but I seem to like this one and am reluctant to try something complicated.
Or can I just stay with what I have for protection. What would you suggest /advise

699579 2008-08-23 05:14:00 Did you or someone remove the trojans??

It'll pay to remove them (if you havent), before you do anything else

699581 2008-08-23 05:26:00 i would stay with existing firewall for now. get a friend on broadband to download the latest version as it HUGE in size (or wait till a pc mag has it on disk ;) ) tweak'e (69)
699582 2008-08-23 05:31:00 If you want just the latest basic ZA firewall, their site has it here (www.zonealarm.com) - look on the right of the page.

"Basic Firewall Only"

Clicking the "zonealarm firewall" button under it will download their setup
(half a meg)
which when run will give you the choice of the OS (Vista or XP/2000)

and whether to

"download and install automaticly"
or
"download to save and install later"

(save and) install later is probably your best option.

That will be the most recent release, and probably the best/safest place to download it from anyway, being their own official site

It's not that big, being just the firewall
...about 45 megs, two to three hours I'd say

699583 2008-08-23 05:32:00 Some Dick Smith shops will download stuff if you buy a packet of CD's. Worth a ring round. Guerilla Surgeon (6848)
