699516 2008-08-23 04:01:00 Hello,

I recentally decided to upgrade from 1gb of ram to 2gb. Both sticks are the same and they both work when in slot 1, but I can't get the computer to boot when there are 2 of them.

I have put them in slot 1 and slot 3 like the motherboard manual says, when that didn't work I also tried slot 1 and slot 2 just in case, still no go. I've installed RAM in other computers without any problems, but this one has me stumped.

motherboard:
MSI P35 Neo

RAM 1:
Kingston ValueRAM 1gb DDR2-800, model KVR800D2N5/1G

RAM 2:
Kingston ValueRAM 1gb DDR2-800, model KVR800D2N5/1G-SP

OS:
Windows XP SP2

As I said before they both work individually, just not when they are both in at the same time. Does anyone know what might be going on?

699517 2008-08-23 04:03:00 tried in different channels? and also which ram is in slot 0 and slot 1? maybe the order in which they come.. i knwo some motherboards are fussy/weird like that Xavier (11355)
699518 2008-08-23 04:12:00 The origional RAM is in the first slot, and the new ram was in the 3rd slot, I also tried the new ram in the 2nd slot.

I didn't try slot 1 and 4 or 2 and 4 together. I didn't try 1 and 4 because I'd never heard of the combo and I didn't try 2 and 4 because I thought that one of the sticks always had to be in the first slot.

Note: when I say slot 1 and mean the first of 4 slots, instead of starting at 0.

The mobo that supports DDR 2 (2 slots and DDR3 - 2 slots)?
