458848 2006-05-29 12:13:00 I received my skywatch magazine for june today and in the programming area it says that on Tuesday june 6th at 1am some sky tv channels will be unavailable for up to two hours, i wonder if this is the switch over to the new satellite they have been going on about i would ring them and ask but i thought i would ask on here first to see if anybody knew anything more than that. 458849 2006-05-29 12:35:00 In the weekend they had an outage that lasted as long as a rugby game  Rob99 (151)

458851 2006-05-29 23:57:00 someone should ring up and ask sky what the outage is for. they should at least tell you that. I don't think they're moving to their new satellite till the end of july. hey does anyone know if any changes are needed to customers dishes when sky transfers their channels to the new satellite? lance4k (4644)

No changes should be needed, they are putting up the satellite in a position where the existing dish alignment will continue to work (to avoid a lot of excessive and unnecessary labour). There will possibly need to be a change made in the decoder settings, to tell the decoder to use the new satellite.

458853 2006-05-30 00:50:00 I have rung sky and they told me that yes they are switching to the new satellite on june 6th, however they guy did say he would ring me back to confirm it.No changes are required to decoders or dishes. Hitech (9024)
458854 2006-05-30 02:22:00 Sky have run me back and confirmed that they are indeed switching over to the new satellite on 6th of june from 1am for around two hours you may have no sky due to this, They also said you will probably have to reboot your decoders for the channels to work again. 458856 2006-05-30 05:15:00 Does that mean that my new satellte dish that will be installed on Jun 8th will get TV3 as well, as part of the FTA transmission? If so, yay!!!!

I'll go rip down the old aerial from my roof personally.. ;)

458857 2006-05-30 05:41:00 TV3 is already transmitted by Sky along with 1 & 2. Don't rip down the aerial until all satellite moves are successful.

I haven't seen anything about ther new satellite being launched, this could just be the existing back up option taking over.
