458026 2006-05-26 22:27:00 I guess a few people have got an e-mail from Telecom asking them to fill in a form to obtain a credit for the time they were having problems with the Xtra service.

Good on Telecom for offering the credit (after it was pointed out that they were required to under the goods and services act), but surely Telecom have a good idea of the customers affected by the outage.

I could be being picky, but why should customers go through the rigmarole of applying for a credit that amounts to between $4.00 and $8.00 when Telecom should just figure out a way to directly credit those affected?

My guess is that a large number of people will not bother... thus saving Telecom the effort of sorting it themselves and also saving them a substantial amount of money.

Maybe this is the new face of the 'more friendly' Telecom

458027 2006-05-27 00:10:00 Well I didn't bother. Thought it might upset them seeing as I've made them refund me the whole month already, could be a bit cheeky asking for another $3. :D pctek (84)

Which is what their original Press Release hinted that they would do.

“Customers don’t need to do anything at all. Starting next week we will notify Xtra customers about how the goodwill credit will be handled.”

458034 2006-06-05 16:17:00 Well..consider if half of their customer think like you and don't bother fill in the form..what will happen? give up the rights and they can get away with it since they already comply with the law (they offer refunds but you ignore and give up your rights) that means they minimise half the damage done already.

If they really want to give you your credit, just say here's $4-$8 for 4 days lack of services bla bla bla in your bill. which would be
$4 x customer number = a lot of $$ > $4 x no of customer that bother to read an e-mail and fill in the form. simple tricks that safe them millions.

458035 2006-06-05 21:27:00 Doesn't strike me as particularly well handled though - I still haven't received an email. And no, it didn't end up in the spam folder. Erayd (23)
