699699 2008-08-24 04:40:00 Like I said, you dont open it in notepad.

Put it in the system, or system32 folder

699700 2008-08-24 04:42:00 Don't manually download the .dll file, you never know what else has been done to it.

There are a few things you can try.

Uninstall word, restart your pc then install word again.

Try updating word (via service packs)

Update Internet Explorer to the latest version if you haven't already done so.

699701 2008-08-24 04:57:00 I've seen a lot of people with teatimer who have problems because it blocked important registry changes & the users didn't know enough about their computers to be able to tell what they should allow & what they should deny.

Does it have a "Basic Mode" setting where it will only block blacklisted stuff & never ask questions?

When I download the dll file I have two options...
1: save it to disk or 2: open it

which ever I choose once it's on my pc and I click on it, up comes notepad.

So how do i get it into the system?

699703 2008-08-24 05:04:00 I looked in properties and it's a zip file....can you suggest a zip file free download for win 98? Winnie (6405)
699704 2008-08-24 05:05:00 Hmm I see what you mean. Does notepad open with every file you download though?

Try this the 32 bit version (http://www.7-zip.org/) its free

699706 2008-08-24 06:31:00 if so in this instance speedy seems to be giving out some very poor information....??Nope. As I mentioned in my post, because of the RAM usage it can certainly have an effect on older computers. Winnie's computer improved after it was disabled. Like all software, you can have the same program working perfectly on one computer and not on another. Guess it depends upon the mix of other applications, the system itself and which way the wind is blowing.

Oh, and you got your wish. You have been banned for 24 hrs for being abusive (deleted posts). Think some people take some things too much to heart.

Oops my bad. If it doesnt work in system32 (you shouldnt have to create it), copy it to C:\system then reboot then try
