SpyBot S&D has one cool tool built into it called TeaTimer'. The TeaTimer monitors the system continuously, protecting system files and the registry from malware. SpyBot S&D also adds a browser helper object (BHO) to Internet Explorer. By using this, SpyBot S&D blocks the bad downloads (like installation of ActiveX components or other BHOs installed by spyware without the user's knowledge) automatically. These two programs are a "must have" on every computer.

thanks jen that's very interesting

now, bearing the above in mind whats 'crap' about it and why's it 'cause probs' (according to speedy) this is a very well respected program with good PR as far as I've ever heard so what's 'wrong' with it then ?

nothing ?

if so in this instance speedy seems to be giving out some very poor information....??

699689 2008-08-24 01:40:00 I'm not forcing you to listen am I...

If you want to leave it running so be it..

Anyone would think its the end of the world, if you delete it from startup../ or disable it.

A computer wont die without it

699693 2008-08-24 03:51:00 I put Word set up cd-rom into d drive and when I click in my computer to open d drive , it comes up with d:\ is not accessible, the device is not ready, retry or cancel. Winnie (6405)

if so in this instance speedy seems to be giving out some very poor information . . . . ?? Speedy is not giving out poor information - its well known that Tea Timer in Spybot can cause problems on some PC's - others its fine .
From experience I have found the same - tea timer can cause more problems than it fixes .

you cant believe every thing these so called "reports" state- bit like saying Nortons doesn't slow down many PC's and miss bugs, because the reports say so - yeah right:D

I uninstalled Word 2002 yesterday and then couldn't reinstall it as it said "d' drive was inaccessible ... Winnie

Go to control panel / device manager and delete the cd under dvd and cd roms.

(I cant remember what the entry is called in 98 now). Then reboot. See if works then. Take the cd out first

699696 2008-08-24 04:06:00 One time I installed TeaTimer, it would let me know changes were going to be made to the registry, and then constantly denied them. the_bogan (9949)
699697 2008-08-24 04:09:00 Whats the brand of the cd??

Try what the bottom part says here (support.microsoft.com)

Altho this is for Office 2000 not 2002
