| 699506 | 2008-08-23 07:12:00 | It has its days - sometimes it doesn't work - but most of the time it does. Best one I have had is from another Tech - not to good at reading his mails - not much time, got the reply back 284 days later :waughh: Then a email asking if I still required the component I was asking if he still had that I wanted to buy from him ---- errrrrrrrr no:dogeye: |

The only solution was to get rid of it. It changes your incoming server from smtp to localhost and then also changes the incoming port number as well so if you get rid of it remember to re set them | gary67 (56) | ||
| 699508 | 2008-08-24 09:47:00 | Yes it sends through Message Tag proxy server. I don't understand why anyone would want to add more complications to their mail system especially as there is no guarantee that it is going to to even work all the time. It will not work if the recipient is using a webmail system only works on POP accounts. Does not work on Exchange servers. Does not work if mail client is set to block HTML email and probably some other things as well. |

| 699509 | 2008-08-28 09:35:00 | Well it certainly worked for me. After no response to emails with "Request Read Receipt", one email with Message Tag has had the desired result within about 3 hours. The people who owed me money had gone to ground, no replies, etc. They obviously realised I was building a case with all the info (which they already had) that I sent in the tagged message. Three hours later I have a reply and a promise to pay up. I have to see the money to know its finished, but I believe without MT, I'd still be at square one. Thanks WT. |

I brought the full version ages ago, cost me about $40 I think - and I got the outstanding $1500 owed because of it - damn good return I'd say. |

| 699511 | 2009-01-13 18:50:00 | You can - I use a program called Message Tag - it embeds a auto reply in your email, and as soon as the mail is opened it will send back a reply that someone has opened the mail. I get a msg in my email app that the sender is requesting a response when they add those. I normally just say no and delete it. |

Thats the inbuilt one in OE, as it was mentioned earlier on in the original post . Message tag, and several others I have heard of, doesn't give you that option - it sends it back automatically (most of the time) . The free version puts a message in the bottom of the email advising a receipt has been sent back to the sender saying it was opened . Its only a code that gets sent back, read what Safari wrote . |

| 699513 | 2009-01-13 19:57:00 | set up outlook express to request a reciept from the reciever which they can't open email untill the reciept request is acknowledged. Doesn't say who opened it but at least you'll know it's been recieved. | kountryken (14110) | ||

The only solution was to get rid of it. It changes your incoming server from smtp to localhost and then also changes the incoming port number as well so if you get rid of it remember to re set them I just uninstalled the program (very happy with it, just doing a reinstall as my new antivirus/firewall seem to have confused it a bit!). Although the programme popped up a message to say I would have to reset my account settings, as soon as it uninstalled, it reset the settings back to my original xtra settings. I didn't have to do anything. I like it even more now (and its still getting me replies when not using it isn't). |
