What happens to Sky if the launch next week goes "Bang" on the launch pad. Some one going up in the shuttle to change the CPU and batteries in the old one??

458860 2006-05-30 22:55:00 one would think that the satellite would already be up their as we speak but its not switched on yet which as you know can be done by remote signal from computers down here on earth, maybe the pictures will be a bit more clearer than what they are now. Hitech (9024)

Apart from your conversation with Sky, the only other recent reference to the Optus D1 satellite that I can find anywhere still says launch delayed. I don't believe anything much will be happening on June 6th.

458862 2006-05-31 00:37:00 well obviously you havent read the threads i have posted stating that in the june skywatch it says on june 6th at 1am sky will be out for a couple of hours, and as i said i rung sky and they told me it was due to the new satellite being switched over. Hitech (9024)

458865 2006-05-31 05:49:00 TV3 is already transmitted by Sky along with 1 & 2. Don't rip down the aerial until all satellite moves are successful.

I haven't seen anything about ther new satellite being launched, this could just be the existing back up option taking over.

TV3 & C4 is transmitted through "Sky". TVNZ 1&2 is transmitted through the same satellite, but is not encrypted like TV3 is now, which means TV3 for those of us who have a satellite receiver but no "Sky subscription" is not watchable. For the new satellite, TV3 & C4 will get free-to-air transmission through as well.

And haha, rest assured I'll rip down the old aerial only after I get a steady signal from the new satellite.

458866 2006-05-31 10:47:00 Other sources say that the earliest likely date for the launch of the Optus D1 satellite is Nov/Dec. More likely that Sky outage is due to update of MySky software. PaulD (232)

Hardley when in one post on this page you say"

"Their new satellite is definitly being launched next week the current satellite sky are on now is their back up one they tell me, but i repeatedly asked 4 times today and last week if they are switching to their new dish and they all said yes that is why you will have no sky for two hours from 1am next tuesday."

And then the next post you say
"one would think that the satellite would already be up their as we speak but its not switched on yet which as you know can be done by remote signal from computers down here on earth, maybe the pictures will be a bit more clearer than what they are now."
