458679 2006-05-30 08:48:00 Hold on - this is Auckland - what quarter acre section?! You mean 450 sqm... :p
1/4 acre=1000 sq m.

I know what a quarter acre section is, 1012 sqm. I have one. Most sections now in Auckland are 450 sqm. There are a few even smaller. Quarter Acre is almost extinct up there as they pack more and more into their nasty little rat cages.

However... I live on a tiny 450 sqm section but it is certainly no "rat cage". (Chilling visited here recently and will attest to how spacious and natural this place is).

Feel a bit sorry for you there Cicero, we live on 6,000 sq m's. You must feel a tad cramped out there?

And our coastal weekender is on 41,400 sq m.

"Spacious" is relative, as the smaller lots seems to be getting ever more popular in this area. Recent subdivisions all around us have seen the sub 600 sq m lots snapped up first, even though the pricing was no different.

So true. I'm down to 1200 m2 now and at my age and physical state it is plenty, providing workshop, double garage, double carports, nice veggie garden and some small nice trees. The 10 acre paddock next door helps with all the views needed.

No need to feel sorry,I could have had 41,400 sq m for the same price as the 4000,but who wants it?
Our previous was 48000,glad to see the back of it.
6000 you say, somebody must be a keen gardener!

Perfectly good rolling-hill countryside and tracks and only deer, hares and sheep? are allowed to roam it. No horses or MX bikes.

<sigh> What a waste. :groan:
