700495 2008-08-26 07:37:00 So, you've been to the Compaq / now HP site and the Toshiba site. And there were no drivers?

You search for the model then download the drivers

700496 2008-08-26 07:38:00 did the toshiba website you suggested earlier today think it was eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com

Wasted sure what to download. Did a few, but nothing changed the laptop.

700497 2008-08-26 07:39:00 Wasted = I mean "wasn't" paulws2006 (14122)
700498 2008-08-26 07:43:00 You select the product (whatever it is notebook etc), then select what it is ( Satellite Pro / whatever)

It'll say what is is under it or on the top of it

Then the model then all for drivers

Then you download the LAN / sound / chipset, wireless (if its got wireless), and whatever the laptop / notebook has on it, and NZ for the country and english for the language

Well you have to download them and install them before anything will work

700499 2008-08-26 10:31:00 Follow my instructions in the previous thread.

Make sure you go to 'archive' not 'notebooks'.

eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com

That is the link to get your drivers.

In the 'Product Type' rather than selecting 'Notebook' select 'Archive', then Satellite, A Series, and A50, leave the short model number as all, select XP, and select the driver type.

Then wait for the page to refresh, scroll down and voila, there are your drivers. You may need to download them on another PC and transfer them to that PC with a flash drive.

Also, get the drivers for everything else when you're there, especially the chipset and video.

Right, so... you need: (These are direct links)

LAN Driver
(support1.toshiba-tro.de)
Chip Set Utility
(support1.toshiba-tro.de)
Display Driver (support1.toshiba-tro.de)

Common Module (support1.toshiba-tro.de)

Controls (support.toshiba-tro.de)

Hotkey Utility (support1.toshiba-tro.de)

You reinstalled Windows - windows doesn't install most drivers, simple as that. It's supposed to happen like that. :)

Install all those drivers (In that order) and we'll go from there, getting the wireless drivers for these laptops can be a b*tch sometimes.

You should have all the yellow entries gone except for the 'Network Controller' and possibly the 'Multimedia Audio Controller' after installing that stuff.

Download and install XP SP3 when you get the LAN working, and also do a full windows update.

700501 2008-08-26 11:02:00 You're better to take it to a PC repair shop if you're getting in too deep and don't know what's going on. wratterus (105)
