700434 2008-08-26 02:11:00 Help!! Frustration bubble is about to pop! I have just wiped my Toshiba A50 laptop and reinstalled Windows XP. On my home computer I have a D-Link DSLG640T Wireless modum running.. Problem is there is nothing getting picked up on my laptop from the wireless. No little anteena in the taskboard, no local area connection in the network connections page..Do i need a driver??

What do I do?? Please help me!!
Thanks

700435 2008-08-26 02:14:00 Ah yer a driver helps

If you've just reinstalled windows .

Altho windows does install a default driver, but its better if you install the manufacturer's driver . You also have to install the chipset and sound drivers . You'll have to go to the toshiba site search for the model . And download / install the drivers

Was a service pack installed when you reinstalled XP??

You'll have to install SP2 or 3 for wireless to work properly I think

Almost certainly the driver isn't installed, and that's probably causing your problem.

Go to your device manager, that's right click on 'My Computer' click 'Properties', then click the 'Hardware' tab, and click 'Device Manager'.

If you can take a screenshot and post it here via flash drive or whatever (I guess you have no internet on the lappy) that would be good, otherwise, look in there, and see how many items have yellow question marks beside them.

eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com

That is the link to get your drivers.

In the 'Product Type' rather than selecting 'Notebook' select 'Archive', then Satellite, A Series, and A50, leave the short model number as all, select XP, and select the driver type.

Then wait for the page to refresh, scroll down and voila, there are your drivers. You may need to download them on another PC and transfer them to that PC with a flash drive.

Also, get the drivers for everything else when you're there, especially the chipset and video.

700440 2008-08-26 05:47:00 There is a little slide switch underneath the front that needs to be set to the on position for wireless. PENTIUM (426)
