700299 2008-08-25 22:27:00 Hi guys

Since I send this message to Dlink, I will also post this one into here, so I just wonder anybody out here also can help?

Serial number of my DSL-G604T: DR7F267002111 H/W Version B3 using firmware V3.00B02.NZ.20060711, purchase date 18 April 2007

Recently (approx 2 months), while I am surfing the web and if the modem is stay on idle for couple of hours like while I am out of house, or it is leaving on overnight. I occasionally experience the modem no longer responding and require turn off from my power supply and to turn it back on

How did I experience this problem:
All of my 2 computers are having wireless USB using Dlink DSL-G122 Version C using Microsoft Vista
My sister using the laptop from Acer using Microsoft Vista
My Pentium 3 using LAN using Windows XP professional
My PDA using Windows CE Version 2

When I am using wireless and discovered this problem, under the taskbar of Windows Vista, I actually press a Diagnose and repair, however Windows cannot find any problem, then after couple of seconds later, the internet connection icon on taskbar shows a red cross on it. If you want to ask me how about the computer with LAN, it is sort of connected, however on the icon at the taskbar it has a yellow exclamation mark, then look into detail, it is with a limited connection with a invalid IP address, i think it was with 162.xxx.xxx.xxx.

I look on the green lights on my ADSL modem, the usual lights is doing the same procedure, there are all in fixed mode except the status light which are blinking all the time (even the modem is not responding for surfing)

Could you please advise me what is the problem with my modem and will there any remedy for solving this problem.

If you require further information, please do not hesitate to contact me on this email address

Thank you for your wonderful help

Yours faithfully

Jacky

700305 2008-08-26 03:54:00 Hi Speedy

I received the email from Dlink support line, they give me the following info, but hmmm . . .

Thank you for your email . I am sorry to hear about the problem . I would like to suggest you change the ADSL mode of your DSL-G604T . Please follow the instructions below .

1 . Login to your router's web-interface on http://10 . 1 . 1 . 1 , default user name and password are both 'admin'(without quote)

2 . Go to 'Advanced' > 'ADSL' and change the Modulation type to G . DMT or ADSL (ITU . G . 992 . 1) . Then click 'Apply'

3 . Go to 'Tools' > 'System' and then click 'save and reboot' .

I just reply to them and said, my modem currently set a ADSL2+ (Multi-mode), if he telling me to goto the above mode, is that mean that my modem will not be capable of ADSL2+ then???

Please advise and confirm as well

700306 2008-08-26 03:58:00 I have no idea what it means, or what it'll do if you change it in the router

Altho, even if the modem is ADSL2+, you have to be on ADSL2 + plan / connection (to get ADSL2 speeds). If youre not, then it wont matter.

They would know more than the both of us, since its their modem

700307 2008-08-26 05:06:00 Hi Speedy

I have updated the mode as their instructed, orginally i am on the ADSL2+ (multi-mode) anyway

See whether any improvement on it then . . .

YOU CAN'T USE THE QUICK REPLY ON THE BOTTOM ON THIS SITE, As I didn't realize that I can't have the subject line being too long, just use the post reply on the left hand side of the screen and change the subject line and you will be able to put thru your thoughts . . .

700308 2008-08-26 05:15:00 Hi Speedy

i got his quick reply . . .

You can check your current connection speed under ‘Status’>’ADSL’ page of the modem’s web interface (http://10 . 1 . 1 . 1) . If the downstream speed is less than 8000K, changing the ADSL mode will not affect anything .
