700250 2008-08-25 11:57:00 I slipstreamed SP3 and IE 7 to my XP Pro CD. It works fine except that every time when I load IE 7, it tries to load this page: www.msn.com

and then the following error pops up:

"The page you have requested cannot be found."

I've changed the homepage to : www.google.com but it just doesn't load my homepage when I launch IE. I could however, go to my homepage after that. What happened?

Problems with the first run page

Sometimes the first run page reappears. Possible causes of this problem are:

1) The Welcome page does not load completely for whatever reason.

2) Scripting has been disabled (note: blocking ActiveX does not cause this problem)

In such circumstances, the DWORD "RunOnceHasShown" may not be created in the following registry key, or it may not be set to a value of 1.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\RunOnceHasShown

If your system is stuck at the initial IE7 welcome page, shut down IE, check for the existence of the RunOnceHasShown DWORD and set it to a value of 1.

Also, ensure that the following key is set to 1:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\RunOnceComplete

copy the following and paste into a notepad file, then save it and change the .txt extension to a .reg and it will do it for you if you want

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main]

"RunOnceHasShown"=dword:00000001

"SearchMigrated"=dword:00000001

"RunOnceComplete"=dword:00000001

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main]

"Search Page"="http://www.google.co.nz"

Just check and found that "RunOnceHasShown" is NOT present.

How do I add it?

700253 2008-08-25 12:31:00 I think that should be _CURRENT_USER rather than _LOCAL_MACHINE
