459598 2006-05-31 23:14:00 Those 10 000 rpm Raptor HDD's...

Let's say you only had 1 of them.

Would you use that for your OS HDD? Pagefile HDD? Both at once? Or would you load your games off it?

Are they worth the money? $200 for 36GB is rather extreme.

459599 2006-05-31 23:39:00 Quite often they're used in small servers, where an expensive SCSI system isn't necessary, or is simply not economically viable. somebody (208)
459600 2006-05-31 23:43:00 just use it for a main HD. don't forget a lot of people never ever get anywhere near 30+gig of data. instead of buying a big hardrive buy one thats got some speed.
if you have lots of MP3's or movies you could put them on a seperate big but slow hardrive. it all comes down to $$$ and how you USE your pc.

459603 2006-06-01 01:32:00 Don't know that I'd bother, can't remember where I read it, but apparently the 7200rpm NCQ HD's do the same job. Shortcircuit (1666)
459604 2006-06-01 03:30:00 I wouldn't buy one. I'm quite happy with Seahate. Don't seem the need for a few nanoseconds more loading spped. pctek (84)

the raptors are a bit faster in my experience. but i would not pay that much more for a small diference raid would offer more performance cheeper
