Yes - when you take into consideration the petrol taxes themselves, ACC levies, LTNZ levies, taxes for AUCKLAND'S ROADS!!!!, etc. etc.

It's not too different to most other developed nations though.

its not so much the relationship between the two, it is more, if the price of fuel became any higher, are you easily able to access public transport near you so that you can use less private transport
