700401 2008-08-27 02:32:00 What do you mean another address?

Somewhere else, you mean?

Obviously you cant get into the BIOS, if its not there, where you are

700402 2008-08-27 03:29:00 what is the make of the PC that you are having probs getting to the bios?

If that was known, it would be easier to answer...

700403 2008-08-27 05:09:00 My Dell, if you press F12, it lists some options, including configuring the BIOS, maybe your one is the same. SPARTAN 860 (2618)

What I meant is, it is not at my address . I will return later today and have another try .

Bevy: It is a fairly old IBM, but apart from that, I don't know . I shall have a closer look later today .

Thanks for your comments . :thanks

700405 2008-08-28 01:04:00 On some really old IBM's they used the "Insert" key at bootup to access bios.

No matter what key you try, don't wait for the splash screen as sometimes you can miss the "input window of opportunity" (which is only a second or 2)

As soon as the comp starts up, begin tapping the key of your choice once or twice a second.

Another pretty obscure thing some older IBM's used was to "hold both mouse buttons down" when starting the comp to access the bios.

Also - when the computer first boots, check the screen for text saying something like "press so and so key to enter setup"
If the 98 splash screen is in the way, press escape as soon as it pops up to see what text is on the screen.

F2 or F1 would be my first guess for an IBM tho

700406 2008-09-03 02:06:00 Bevy: Thanks . I have been slowed down by a bout of the bot which my lovely SWMBO passed on to me, so I have not done too much of late .

I hope that you do not catch it as it is very debilitating!

Thanks for your suggestions . I will be going back for another try later this week, so hopefully I will have some good news for you then . Thanks, mate . :thanks
