2008-08-25 05:35:00 | Tell us what the stop error says, and the name of the file (under it, if its says the name of a file or driver) Or what it says on the screen Ok it says A Problem has been detected and windows has shut down to prevent damage to your computer. UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME If this is the first time you have seen this Stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again follow these steps: Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed. If this is a new installation ask your hardware of software manufacturer for any windows updates you might need. If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use Safe Mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, Press F8 to select Advanced Startup Options, and then select Safe Mode. Technical Information: *** STOP: 0x000000ED (0x87312368,0xC0000006,0x00000000,0x00000000) Sorry that took so long to type

2008-08-25 05:41:00 | support.microsoft.com says that either the file system is damaged or another technical glitch occurred. (I won't tell you - you can read it if you want to know. :)) This could be a biggie. :eek:

2008-08-25 05:50:00 | Read the links, if the IDE cable is 40 pin, swap it for an 80 pin IDE cable (this has a blue connector on the end of the IDE cable). WHAT else is connected to this hard drive?? Or is it by iself?

2008-08-25 05:56:00 | I have no idea about your pin thingy :confused: I shall send an e-mail to Acer and see what reply I get I have a USB Printer plugged in the front of the computer but that is it..

2008-08-25 05:57:00 | Is it still under warranty? If it is, take it back This is a desktop right?? Not a laptop?
Speedy Gonzales (78) | ||
2008-08-25 06:00:00 | If it's a laptop, you can't replace the cable. If it's a desktop, try replacing the cable with this (ascent.co.nz). BTW IDE cables are inside the computer. ;) And it's 80 wire not 80 pin.

2008-08-25 06:01:00 | 1)Yes it's a desktop 2)I'm not sure about the warranty. How long do they usually last? 3)Which cable? eg:Monitor etc..
