699921 2008-08-24 07:00:00 You sure thats your mobo??

On the GB site, its only got the DS3R (rev2.1), DS3(2.1), DS3L, DS3P (rev2.1), DS3R(2.1), and DS4(2.1)

Unless its archived on their site

And im sure thats the model, I have the box in my hands

699923 2008-08-24 07:56:00 This is the nearest match I can find on their site here (www.gigabyte.com.tw) can't find a ds2l only this one that does support your cpu gary67 (56)
699924 2008-08-24 08:40:00 i miss typed the motherboard model, it is infact DS3L instead of DS2L which i typed eariler fatesjester (13456)
699925 2008-08-24 08:51:00 well that's it in my link and it says it supports your cpu so not sure gary67 (56)
699926 2008-08-24 09:12:00 Only thing I can think of is faulty ram or the CPU fan connection isnt plugged in then.

Or something going to the front of the case has been connected to the wrong thing?

And if the case has firewire or youve got a bracket for the back it is plugged into the FW onboard not the USB connection. This will definitely kill it

699927 2008-08-25 08:55:00 We are not 100% on the cables from the front so i will try plugging them in again. Cheers fatesjester (13456)
699928 2008-08-25 09:02:00 I would check, and make sure the main power (the ATX 20/24 pin), is in properly too.

It may not be right in, so its making contact

Someone didnt remove the BIOS jumper on the mobo did they?? For some reason?

699929 2008-08-25 09:32:00 Well the CPU you're using is supported since BIOS rev. F1 (which is the first one) so no matter what version BIOS you have, it will be supported. Check the BIOS settings clearing jumper is attached correctly. having this off or in the wrong position can cause this problem also. Make sure the battery is good and installed correctly.

Secondly, what is your PSU? brand/model and current rating on 12v? Note you will need a 24-pin PSU for this board.

A cheap, underpowered PSU can start the PC up but can stop it from completing POST. Had that happen exactly with a P4 system. With the crappy hyena it had, nothing would happen. with a much better PSU it worked perfectly.

What you can try is taking everything down to basics and see what happens.
So, unplug EVERYTHING apart from these:

PSU (ensure main and aux connector are attached)
MotherBoard
CPU
Power button & Case Speaker (make sure they are connected properly!)

Fire it up and you should get a lot of beeping going on. This will verify that your board and CPU work. If so, then attach your RAM and video card. Your pc should now be at least able to complete POST, if nothing else.
