459640 2006-06-01 06:41:00 I do not like people who want to interfere in my life. This includes the likes of ASH, Forest & Bird, Door Knockers who ask me if I have heard about Jesus yet.

Telephone pollers, DOC, various local bodies and anyone else who has an agenda and also thinks I should live my life just the way they do.

If the pollies here were not trying to make everywhere indoors smokefree then I would think butts would go in the ashtray where they belong.

Heard yesterday that Hone Harawira wants to make the whole of NZ smokefree.
Now I can just see that happening when the Gov't get about $950,000,000 in tax on tobacco. Don't think they will give that up in a hurry.

459641 2006-06-02 22:04:00 As a non-smoker I have no issue with it.
The only thing that ticks me off is people who smoke around my kid (like in a social setting and they just light up and blow it all over her).

459642 2006-06-02 23:51:00 The only thing that ticks me off is people who smoke around my kid (like in a social setting and they just light up and blow it all over her).Or have the decency to move right away when they light up. If a friend of mine smoked in too close proximity to my kids I'd have no hesitation to tell them to move, or I'd at least make it obvious that they're being an ass, by asking the kids to move. Heck I've even told my mother not to smoke when kids are around her, or at least move to the other side of the deck. Greg (193)
459643 2006-06-03 15:11:00 The number of self-righteous pratts running around NZ is unbelievable.:groan:

We are dictated to as to how we bring up our children, what we should eat, how many or if any trees we may remove from our properties [even if we planted them in the first place], what we can watch in films or on TV, etc, etc. Men are no longer comfortable in teaching/caring roles of young children and female teenagers. Irrigators abusing our rivers, developers going beserk with new housing causing sewerage systems to overload and have to be replaced, causing more rate increases.

NZ is spiraling into a neurotic mess of control freaks.
And we are all sitting by letting it happen.:(

I just wonder what will be the last straw which finally makes everyone finally say "enough!" and wake up to the fact - that one by one, our rights are being eroded.

Or are we all so pathetic that we need to be told how, when and where to do everything?`:dogeye:

Even God only thought 10 commandments were enough for us to live by :p
AND that covered the whole earth, not a puny pair of Islands at the bottom of the earth :D

459644 2006-06-04 01:24:00 Great points!

Only problem of course is that what you're suggesting is anarchy, and most of the populations of most civilised countries don't want that - which is why people vote .

Only problem of course is that what you're suggesting is anarchy, and most of the populations of most civilised countries don't want that - which is why people vote.

But if we vote the wrong way we will get what we deserve.
Not all people who are allowed to vote do so do they.
Those of us who do vote may have it wrong.
The apathetic people whom don't vote should not have a right to complain in any shape or form.
