| 460637 | 2006-06-05 10:35:00 | I am a Telecom customer (stop laughing! :D ) and I am travelling to Europe later this year for three weeks. Im doing a bit of a tiki-tour from Germany into Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Czech Republic and back to Germany. Im spending about a third of my time away in the Czech Republic. My question is: would I be better off getting a Telecom GSM loaner (which I believe is just a diversion from the 027 NZ number) or buying a GSM phone off TradeMe and getting a Czech (or other European) prepaid sim card? Would the GSM phone I bought here in NZ need to be unlocked? And how could I tell if it was unlocked? The use of the phone would be mainly for texting friends in Europe and maybe the odd call home I wouldnt be receiving many (if any) calls from NZ. Any data gratefully received... |

| 460641 | 2006-06-06 03:10:00 | Calls was quite expensive. It was something like $2 a minute to receive a call and $4 a minute + standard calling rate per minute to make a call.. I sometimes would forget Im on a NZ vodafone sim Card.Lol I suggest you would be better off buying a sim card there I only used my Sim Card in Hk so that if my friends or family in trouble they could ring me.Just incase of emergency |

| 460642 | 2006-06-06 03:44:00 | When i went to Holland last year, i used a mates Vodafone cellphone, then just purchased a sim card over there. Be aware that you cannot send text messages to 027 from a European Sim card, but 027 can send text messages to you. You can send text messages from vodafone to vodafone. The sim card cost me 10euro. |
