I didn't realise that the things that Theresa Gattung said on the Telecon spoof advert, were things she actually said at a Telecom March Investors conferance and were leaked out. Looks like she might get the boot.

Trevor :)

459621 2006-05-31 22:52:00 If you go to Slingshot, there is a portion of the "speech" she made.

459622 2006-05-31 23:17:00 You'd have to listen to the audio to be sure, the transcipt could have been made by Slingshot's Indian Call Center. PaulD (232)
459623 2006-06-02 12:39:00 Actually the speech is taken out of context. I am sure that you could do the same thing with a lot of what politicians say too but most people don't have the time or can't be bothered doing that. rogerp (6864)

459625 2006-06-02 14:14:00 ...plundering the resources that belong to the people.

What? Much as I dislike Telecom, it's not a govt company - it's owned by its shareholders. As such, it's private property. What do you mean?

459626 2006-06-03 08:53:00 I think he meant "belonged to the people". george12 (7)
459627 2006-06-03 10:24:00 Duh, the 80's was the period when right wing economic mad zealots, for example roger douglas and richard prebble (names deliberately lower case) influenced by Americans with a hidden agenda and greedy businessmen in cahoots caused a bunch of sheeple to sell off large amounts of the New Zealand economic infrastructure essential to the prosperity of the ordinary New Zealander and most were so unaware that they applauded the sales.

Looks like the dawn of realisation of the mistakes made has still to come to most of them, if it ever does.

I think the unbundling moves are the right thing to do and from a personal point of view I switched to Telstra Clear the moment the cable got to my door. However, the mistakes was surely in the way assets were sold not the fact that they were sold. We need competition not a return to Government ownership of Telecom - because some of us remember how bad the service was before Roger Douglas came along.
