459569 2006-05-31 21:30:00 Welcome to anal retentive land . Otherwise known as New Zealand . Facts about our country .

1/ Don't bother trying to use the internet here . It's based on a 1980's model and is about to be updated to third world status before the end of the year . If you leave prior to the upgrade, bad luck . If you see people swearing in internet cafes, its not because we are foul mouthed people :badpc:

2/ If you have brought a laptop with you . Store it in a locker at the airport . It's no use here at all . Your better off to do all your business in your home country before you arrive in N . Z ;)

3/ I would reccomend that if you HAVE to use the internet, that you leave our country immediately and fly to the northern hemisphere . There you will find high speed broadband options GALORE . A feeding frenzy of cheap uncapped internet

4/ Try not to use profanity and make abusive remarks about our internet services here when leaving via airport departures . Other visitors might hear you and begin to wonder "How stupid they have been in choosing N . Z as a destination" . :annoyed:

5/ Have a lovely stay in draconian N . Z .

459572 2006-06-01 01:01:00 Well all I can say is that any "tourist" who comes here to spend half their time on a PC in an internet cafe or wherever should not have bothered coming here at all. :stare:

We have far more to offer tourists than faster internet access to what they get at home.

459573 2006-06-01 03:06:00 Utopia - you must live in a very sheltered world. Tourists don't go to any country to use the internet. And what we have works - as evidenced by the fact that you've just used the net to create a thread.

One third of the people on this planet have never made a phone call.

459574 2006-06-01 03:26:00 Netcafes for the most part will have fiber connections, if thats to slow to download your email and browse the web then you need to get out more.

Oh and your opinion != fact.

I have my future New Zealand visiting itinerary all planned .

First, I go to Mr . Metla's house for the cold beers he promised me last year . . . hope the offer's still good . . . maybe he'll let me ride his ATV .

Second, I'm going to ChristChurch (sp?) and see what everybody says is so nice there .

I will be trout fishing in a river, the name of which I cannot pronounce .

I will go back to Mr . Metla's house for more beer .

We might call Beetle and check out her Jeep for her .

I am going to look for a Holden . . . whatever that is .

I want to inspect the wiring of a typical house to see how people don't fry themselves on 220v current .

More trout fishing .

More beer .

Teach Metla how to drive a BobCat 930 driving on only the rear wheels with a grapple bucket and a FORD 755 with a hydrohammer .

No computers at all .

Go home with good memories .

;)

459576 2006-06-01 05:00:00 Hi Joe . Don't forget to arrange a passport . I was recently reading (in an uncritical way) some figures on people travelling and found this item:

Source: ww . travelbritain . org/newhome/traveltrade/Marketingops/marketintel . htm

The current US passport population stands at 18% of US adults . Source : European Travel Commission .

Recent research indicating that Britain is the most popular overseas destination (excluding Canada & Mexico) for US residents . Source: Travel Industry World Yearbook 2000 .

The top cities for passport ownership are: New York, 38%; San Francisco, 37%; Miami/Fort Lauderdale, 33%; West Palm Beach, 31%; San Diego, 29%; Los Angeles, 27%; Washington DC, 27% . Source: US Office of Central Statistics
