1430278 2016-12-27 19:52:00 Hi,

I have an Acer Aspire Timeline laptop running Win 7. When I shut it down the fan keeps running the blue power light remain on. The only way to stop this is to press the power button for 3 seconds and it completely closes down.

Fixes I have tried:
# Factory reset - no.
# resetting your BIOS boot order to default (www.tomsguide.com). Didn't work.
# Also Enable hybrid sleep (www.wintips.org). Didn't work.
# And Set Power State (in BIOS) to ACPI S3 Mode (Suspend to RAM) (www.wintips.org). This requires you to enter the Power Management in BIOS which my BIOS does not have.

Another suggestion is to "reflash your bios to the newest one and then reset it using f5 (www.tomshardware.com)."

Here is my problem. I might sound like I'm a techie person using words like 'BIOS' etc but I'm computer illiterate, meaning, I don't know *how* to "reflash your bios to the newest one and then reset it using f5". Can someone explain this in childs language for me please OR, do you have a fix for this flippin' annoying problem - fan and light staying on.

Your help, as always, is greatly appreciated. Cheers, Apo

1430281 2016-12-28 22:24:00 Hi pctek,

I did everything (all 4 steps) suggested at that website including downloading and execution the Disable_Hibernate.reg file and changing all of my hibernation settings under Power Options to 'shut down'. Nothing has worked.

This is mega frustrating!! Any other suggestion besides speaking to the screen with a hammer :-)

Cheers, Apo

1430282 2016-12-29 05:26:00 Something that needs to terminate during shutdown isn't closing properly which is preventing a clean shutdown.

If you start in safe mode then try to shutdown, it can eliminate that its a system program crashing.

You may need to check your event viewer for errors and maybe produce a hijack this log to see if any abnormal programs are running.

1430283 2017-02-25 09:41:00 Control Panel > Device Manager > scroll down to System Devices > scroll down to and right click Intel(R) Management Engine Interface > Properties > click tab Power Management > you should see an option that says "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power". Make sure this option is NOT checked and if it is, un-check it and click OK.

i have readed it in comment section of tomsguide forum
