| 1428072 | 2016-11-01 02:18:00 | These older Laptops - GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR DAMN AMD Graphic Drivers are gong to drive me to drink. :badpc: The big manufactures are meant to be supplying Microsoft with compatible Drivers for Windows updates. HA!!! Got two HP Laptops, one common Problem, Freezing (as many are doing) -- Tracked down the problems -- AMD Drivers are the one common cause. Remove the AMD driver and they run beautiful, fast, snappy, no crashing. :banana To prove it, run the cab file that allows you to block drivers - blocked all MS AMD drivers, just download defender updates and a few other hardware updates ( non AMD), no problems at all, still fast, snappy and run nice. Go to AMD's site download their minimum installer that allows you to select what drivers - as soon as graphic go back in :yuck: Remove them again, back to running fine. This happens on the two current Laptops as well as other I've had. Come on AMD get your crap together !!!!!!! Bleat over :D |

Use the Generic (low res) win driver and it worked OK . Replace the card (or chip) and it worked OK with same driver as before On 10 though, more likely driver issues? |

| 1428075 | 2016-11-01 03:35:00 | Yeah the Previous times I have had these two laptops, roughly 3 months ago, similar problems. That time I installed drivers directly from AMD's site which worked fine. Had it happen on several others as well (at least 10 -12 Laptops, more than likely more without looking up records). Each and every time its been AMD Graphics. Ever tried working on laptops that are not fully constructed again - To get to the HDD's you have to remove the KB as well as top covers to get to them, without fully constructing again, just parts laying there - They wobble all over the place :D The low res drivers ( default MS) work and look fine cant tell the AMD are not installed. They are also very responsive and snappy. :) |

| 1428076 | 2016-11-01 06:31:00 | So youre saying that Microsoft write absolute rubbish software and everyone else has to accommodate it. And then, other Software Companys fill their pockets fixing the Microsoft product. Classic Shell being a fine example. Nahhh, Im afraid Microsoft have lost the plot. No good trying to pass the buck. Fancy arguing that the car runs fine in first gear so that should be good for a trip. |

But then MS are the devil according to you. |

| 1428079 | 2016-11-01 18:47:00 | Not so. In other words "the car drives well in 1st gear". Stop once again hijacking other peoples threads with your dribble. The default Microsoft drivers work perfectly fine. The only real difference between MS drivers and AMD is the AMD software have additional features for adjusting, tweaking etc. Same thing applies to NVidia, but they always seem to be on the ball and supply what's required. What is meant to happen is the manufactures of software have agreed with MS to supply upto date drivers, many don't. Sooner or later AMD will then those will be the ones MS supply. MS can only supply what they are given. Places like AMD are continually creating New drivers, in this case it seems again they are slow to supply newer ones. Its the same thing as you with your web cam - you are trying to run Windows based software on Linux, which its not designed for - So going by your thinking, Linux is the Problem not the windows software. |

| 1428080 | 2016-11-01 22:34:00 | What have you been doing with these machines in the end Wainui? We've got a bunch at the moment - mostly ones that have come back in after we got them going previously - they seem more difficult to get behaving this time around. | wratterus (105) | ||

We've got a bunch at the moment - mostly ones that have come back in after we got them going previously - they seem more difficult to get behaving this time around. Had the same problem before as you metnioned. Two of the three have popped up with a message saying: "Your Hardware settings have changed. Please reboot your computer for these settings to take effect." Yeah like it doesn't work. :( Bit of trial and error, but so far done 3 in the last two days and this has worked on them all. 1.Run in safe mode ( as it suggests to do so) graphic removal software; www.guru3d.com Download links are down the page a little. Latest version 17.0 On reboot it will boot normally. 2.Then run the update blocker from MS wushowhide.diagcab. support.microsoft.com Block all AMD and any other drivers you dont want. 3.Then run the AMD updater available from their site support.amd.com Select the bottom option "AMD Minimal Setup" www2.ati.com <-should be a direct link Run that, install any other AMD drivers listed with the exception of the graphic Every one that i've had play up are HD 8xxxx ( other wise it will play up again as AMD have not caught up yet) The HDMI drivers appears to be perfectly fine if the laptop has HDMI. On rebooting you may get in device manager unknown devices, but it will be running on the Default Windows 10 Drivers. The fact they run OK on Windows default drivers all point to AMD's being screwed up, even the latest from their site they don't work :( |
