| 1430353 | 2017-01-03 03:25:00 | Many thanks WT. I did not get a chance to try those last two suggestions, but while I was mucking around I got Outlook working again. I went to my back up HD (I'd put in an extra BU drive and enabled the basic Windows back up when I built the PC) and found the Outlook Files folder back up. The folder had lots of back ups so I chose the one that was a few days before the problem started. I ran the scanpst tool on it and it worked, unlike on the original file. I renamed the original Outlook Files folder on the main drive so I wouldn't lose it and made a new folder Outlook Files. I was able to copy and paste the back up Outlook file into it and then rename the file to exactly what the original was. I tried starting Outlook and got a different error message-this time along the lines that I didn't have permissions to open the file. Fixed that by opening the file and giving myself full control ('d also checked this with the original file). Restarted Outlook and in came the couple of hundred emails since Christmas. Yahoo. I then ran the Inbox repair tool again, it said it found errors, but there couldn't have been many as it only took a few seconds to say all was fixed. I haven't tried the unstoppable copier, but did try copying the original pst files from the renamed original folder and it still won't let me copy/send/drag the files anywhere, which is so weird. I certainly appreciate all your suggestions and time spent helping me on this. It's the first biggie I've had for a year or more. Many thanks, Graham. |

Shows your backups worked as they should, which is always good. 1st Biggie :D Already on job number 5 and its only the 3rd Jan. No such things as holidays. Got quite a few booked for next week as well. |
