1429135 2016-11-25 02:23:00 Not much from real computer stores right? The toaster shops like HN and NL are always peddling low priced computers, they are cheap for one of two ( or both) reasons. Crap components or Very low spec. Been to many peoples places that complain their New $500 laptop they just brought from the toaster shop runs slower than the old one, - get what you pay for ;) wainuitech (129)

They are usually single stores. The chain stores get a better buy price.
The markup on hardware is pretty low for the general single store crowd.

and I suspect the junk PCs the chain stores buy, they get in bulk and a very low price so they aren't losing much anyway....

1429138 2016-11-26 09:15:00 The last brand name computer I got was my first, a Gateway running Windows 95. Lasted for a good few years until the mother board died, but I had a lot of fun with it. After that I picked my own parts and assembled them. Laggard (17509)
1429139 2016-11-26 14:07:00 I got my GTX 1080 thanks to the Black Friday sales at PBTech. Had kept my eye on the RRP so knew what it was vs what they were selling it for. $200 savings later, I'm stoked :D
Same for buying another Chromecast and Google Home, from Google Store in the US. Saved $10 on the Chromecast (USD$25 now) and $30 on Google Home (Now $99). I figured, why stop at just one at that price, so I got two more Google Home devices!

1429140 2016-11-27 21:50:00 We actually bought a new fridge from NL on Friday (we did need one badly). Got over $400 off the RRP so the $1650 fridge was $1230 or thereabouts - had a look and that price was equal with the cheapest price in the country from any of the bigger brand stores. So pretty happy with that.

Makes more sense than queen's birthday.
Who we might give thanks to is a bit random.
