1428951 2016-11-23 00:27:00 Thank you for your help, Wainui. Unfortunately I have had no luck with either of those links you sent me. I have spent a frustrating two hours trying to find that missing dll with no luck. I wonder if it is possible to send me the dll directly to my email address? I would appreciate if you could send it to my alternative email address: lambournross@gmail.com where I should be able to retrieve it and install it so I can have my email up and running again. Thanks so much for your help, it is most appreciated. Roscoe (6288)
1428952 2016-11-23 00:28:00 Is this Outlook 2010 ?

have you tried running Office repair or reinstall of Office ?

I do not know what version I have. How do I find out?

1428953 2016-11-24 02:50:00 To find out what Version of Office. support.office.com

In your other Post which I assume is relating to this one -- You say OE, yet in this thread its Outlook.

Two totally different Programs.

OE = Outlook Express Eg: XP

Outlook = Part of Microsoft Office.

The missing dll file ?? does it say where its missing From ( what folder) it will be on your own Computer, as well as mine BUT There are several in different locations and different sizes, same name , so not really prepared to send any ol dll as it might be the wrong one.

Theres Two things that need to be Known.

1. What OS are you running ?
2. Is it OE or Outlook ?

1428954 2016-11-24 20:47:00 Thank you, Wainui.

The version of Office that I have is Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010. In the list of programmes included in Office it says Microsoft Outlook, so from what you say it is not OE.

The OS I am using is 8.1.

The error message did not say where the file was missing from, just that it was missing. I have since realised that it's not so much that the file is not on the computer - it is - it's just missing from the place where it's supposed to be and I don't know where that is. If I knew I could copy and paste it to the correct place. Is that correct?

Thanks so much for your patience.

1428955 2016-11-25 06:07:00 Okey dokey - Try this. For Starters go to Your User Name/ Documents - Outlook files. Think that's the path --- There should be your .pst file - copy it to someplace safe. (its only a precaution).

Next run a repair on Office /outlook as 1101 posted in #10 support.office.com (support.office.com).

On the odd occasion during repairs the pst file can get damaged, normally its fine, BUT that's why I mentioned above copy it first, just in case.

This is from memory -- there may be two options a quick repair or complete repair ( similar wording, the quick checks for missing components, the complete fully reinstalls Office, you will usually need your Office Product Key for the complete repair.

1428956 2016-11-27 04:42:00 Thanks so much for all your effort, Wainui. My son-in-law called in today and he knows so much more than I do.

I thought that AVG was running in the background. Apparently it was not and so the problem was malware that I had inadvertently let it thinking I was protected. He installed the Ad Aware anti virus and then ran it over the PC, found some malware and removed it. Things have returned to normal.

A big thank you to all who offered advice. If I had been able to tell you a bit more of what was causing the problem the answers might have been different. But I am grateful for your efforts.

Thankfully all is now well. Thanks to all who offered advice. In particular, thanks to you, Wainui. Your help is appreciated.

1428957 2016-11-27 04:50:00 Good you managed to get it sorted :)

The problem with trying to help on a forum is the person helping cant see what the person asking for help can see. OFTEN just being in front of a PC you can see things that at the time may not appear important, but they are.

AVG being disabled -- Seen that before ( other AV's as well) the malware does a good job at disabling yet it appeasr the AV is working.

1428958 2016-11-28 09:01:00 I cannot look at my Outlook Email as it opens and reopens continually. By the time I have had a look to see what email I have, it has opened again and I am not able to open any new emails. Hopefully there is someone out there who knows what's going on and is able to give me a remedy. Thanks lads.

You can fix this issue by repairing Microsoft Office program. Follow the steps:

1: Open Control Panel, Click on Program & Features
2: Search for Microsoft Installation and click on to select it
3: Now click Right and select Change
4: Select the Repair option and click Continue
5: When the Repair process completes Restart Your computer

I hope the above-suggested solution will help you to resolve the issue correctly.
