1430178 2016-12-25 16:51:00 All my shortcuts on my desktop for the Internet no longer work and when I try and create a shortcut for the desktop I get a message saying "unable to open his internet site. The protocol "https" does not have a registered program" I had Google Chrome on my computer for about a month and I Do Not like it so I removed it, but I don't know if that had anything to do with this? I'm using Windows 7 and IE 11 lostsoul62 (16011)
1430179 2016-12-25 19:08:00 If you put shortcuts to internet sites on the desktop which opened up in Chrome they have no way of working now that you have uninstalled Chrome. Delete them.
A more practical method of quick access to the sites you want to keep handy is to save them as favorites in the browser of your choice.

1430181 2016-12-25 19:48:00 I got it fixed by going into the control panel under default programs and by clicking on set your default programs, clicked on Internet Explorer, choose defaults for this program and click the 3 at the bottom and that did the trick. lostsoul62 (16011)
1430182 2016-12-25 19:52:00 Ok. Well what do you see if you right click on the shortcut and select 'open with'. CliveM (6007)

Good that you got it sorted.
