| 1429663 | 2016-12-10 03:31:00 | Anyone know an actual way to reset a windows 10 password on an admin account. There are no other accounts set up. Its a friends laptop. Tried using Linux but it won't mount the windows drive. It boots into win10 but obviously cannot go any further. |

What you can try is activating the Hidden Admin account, log into that and change /remove the current user password from within settings. If not to sure how, its a bit of mucking about , this Video shows how www.youtube.com Personally I never do it that way, I got a couple of Bootable CD's that allow to either change or remove the password. One I tried a while back also does allow you to bypass the email type passwords - BUT the side effect is you cant re-enter a password. The Local Account- No problems at all. You can get into the CMD via the repair options directly, but the "gotya" is when selecting CMD, it asks for the current password - so the inbuilt security is doing its job. |

| 1429668 | 2016-12-11 01:15:00 | There is an easier option as well -- Its the software I mentioned that will also remove a password from the email log in, BUT I did find it caused problems if trying to create a password later on ( mind you the OS was damaged beforehand so that may have been the cause as well) . If its a LOCAL account theres no worries. I couldn't remember the name of the software last night- Lets say was well into beer oclock at the time, and just running/answering on instinct :D You can download the Free ( and its fully working) version of Lazesoft Recover My Password www.lazesoft.com Install it on another PC. When installing and making the ISO/ CD or USB drive use the defaults, Don't select a particular OS when prompted (leave it as it is). Boot the Problem laptop from the source you made ( CD/USB) Select the password option, use defaults, select the Account and remove the password. Reboot taking out the CD/USB and you'll boot directly into windows, no password required. Theres a Couple of Videos further down the page showing the above, Works on W10 as well. :) |

The software version couldn't find the drive and I didn't know which folders to load. All done thanks |
