When a new version of W10 is released I run "Windows 10 Upgrade.exe" This scans your system and updates it to the latest version, saving the old files to a folder "windows old". You delete this when you are sure all is well. I have used this program several times and never had a problem, it is completely automatic which means that it can be done overnight. You do not have to enable auto updates to do it. mzee (3324)
1428870 2016-11-17 22:59:00 Yep, its also good for forcing a upgrade if you want. MS when upgrades come out don't put them out to everyone at the same time, but with that exe you can get it when you want. wainuitech (129)
1428871 2016-11-19 03:58:00 Be aware, if you use Windows 10 upgrade.exe it restores the anti MS spy settings so you have to disable them all again. mzee (3324)

1428873 2016-11-19 09:22:00 Handy tip, but I'd hardly call the updates constant. I leave auto update on and it has not interrupted me yet, all that's happened is a few times when I've shut down for the night it's informed me it needs to update and done it before shutting down.
I think it's a pretty good way to do it myself.

I think it's a pretty good way to do it myself. Totally agree, out of the hundreds of computers I've dealt with NONE have auto started while using. The only time its asked is a pop up appears saying it needs to reboot to install, and EVERY TIME you can defer it till later.

By Default they are set to auto restart at 3am, if for some reason that doesn't suit you can easily change the time. Most people complain because they don't know basic settings and how to change them, and to lazy to look it up.
