701021 2008-08-28 04:08:00 Hi

I travel a lot and use my machine on a lot of different wireless and hotel networks . Dell XPS M1210 with an Intel wireless driver and a broadcomm network card, correct drivers for both .
Before I installed SP3, everything worked fine . I could arrive at another network, bring the laptop out of sleep mode or hibernate and connect onto wired or wireless networks and IE would work . Since I've installed SP3, the only way I can get IE to work when:
1: coming out of sleep or hibernate
2: unplugging then replugging a cable (this is intermittent but happens often in hotel rooms)
3: on the same network, disconnecting wired and turning on wireless

is by rebooting the machine .
When it happens, the underlying network stack on my machine appears ok, I can ping web addresses, Mail Washer, email, skype and other services work fine, it's just IE that will not work until I've rebooted :( .
I have tried:
disabling, enabling the connection .
ipconfig release, flushdns and renew
Disabling my firewall
and yes, IE is not "offline" .

I'm now also getting this problem on my home network if my laptop sleeps, on restart the same problem occurs . Again, prior to SP3, everything was ok but after SP3 install, it's all gone haywire .

In IE, no config script or proxy is used .

Can anyone tell me why HTTP would stop working?

I did a network diagnostics thru Explorer . Here is the info, as you can see everything is ok except HTTP:

701023 2008-08-28 04:33:00 Try winsock fix, sounds like the IP stack is corrupted.... SolMiester (139)
701024 2008-08-28 05:19:00 Tried Firefox and Winsock fix, same issue continues. I'm trying to avoid a total reinstall as I've read other psosts where this was the only way they could fix the problem but no one knows what the problem originally was..... allanl (1957)
701025 2008-08-28 10:52:00 Why not install IE8 Beta 1 which is the latest IE version?

You can save your search history and stored passwords, you won't lose any data .

www . microsoft . com/windows/products/winfamily/ie/ie8/default . mspx

EDIT: Beta 2 is out .

EDIT 2: Damn you speedy :p

701027 2008-08-28 21:22:00 http port appears to be blocked??

Does this only happen coming out of hibernation or sleep?.....same on wireless and wired?.....

Have you tried a different browser as suggested.......?
