| 700773 | 2008-08-27 04:05:00 | This PC has a 500 GB HDD (with only ONE partition) preloaded with Vista Home Premium. I tried to shrink the C:\ but could only shrink it to 250 GB - that's the max space I could free up. There is a line saying that "Size of available space can be restricted if snapshots or page files are enabled on the volume" How do I go about? I wish to shrink my C: to 100 GB. How to disable the page files or snapshot of the volume? |

| 700774 | 2008-08-27 04:16:00 | Some sites say to defrag it then try again. Others say disable the pagefile and volume shadow copying, as well. The 2nd is probably a service. I wouldnt have a clue how to disable the pagefile in Vista, (only XP). Since I dont use it |

| 700775 | 2008-08-27 05:26:00 | I used Acronis disk director, followed all the steps, specified the size required, it proceeded to perform the resizing, it rebooted; everything 'seems' to be 'fine'. After it has finished it's job, Vista restarted as normal. But when I checked my C:\ properties, nothing has changed! It's a brand new computer from PB Tech with 500GB of HDD in one partition! Any suggestions other than reformat the HDD and reinstall Vista? |
