2006-06-12 11:30:00 | It snowed in CHCH today . Rather cold this snow stuff . Going out was something i did briefly, but it proved to be a bad idea . But it was your big chance to emulate Lawrence Oates . . .

2006-06-12 14:03:00 | There was a several-hour powercut at my school this morning. No electricity == no OHT == no lesson == no Physics! :D Cheers :)

2006-06-12 14:27:00 | My freaking Comp Sci exam got postponed... Until the 27th of June!! I was supposed to finish on the 19th :( Oh well, least I got to see a car crash on my way to uni this morning... Stupid Auckland drivers not understanding how to give way. Got locked in my building too... The security doors defaulted to 'locked' once the backup power ran out, seems pretty dangerous to me :S

2006-06-12 22:28:00 | I think it was more because while the south was without power and still are in many places, no one made a fuss . People were getting on with things, grader drivers were having a busy time pulling idiots out of snow, farmers haven't had any disasters yet, kids were having great time . Whereas Auckland city came to a grinding halt . Shopkeepers whinging, drivers taking mad risks (which wasn't mentioned on the news last night but was in the paper), hospitals on emergency only etc . Most of which sounds fairly normal for Auckland anyway . And Miss CloseUp dramatics has to have some topic to get excited about . Calm people in the south wouldn't have been much good to her . . .

2006-06-12 23:24:00 | My argument is not with our fellow citizens from Auckland (poor souls!) but with our media, which gives over sensationalised reports, heavily biased towards the interests of those who live in our major city. Another thought: I can foresee that city power outages in the future will be deliberately arranged by the criminal element in our liberal society, and that looting and civil disobedience will occur regularly. Indeed, one must feel sympathy for anyone who wishes - or must, live in these ghettos!
