462471 2006-06-12 10:02:00 I was born in South Auckland, Middlemore Hospital if we want to be precise.

I left Auckland because i really don't like the place. Nothing against it, it's just not right for me. CHCH suits me more.

All this divisionist crap is annoying/confusing/ and just plain bewildering me! I mean what is with this? AK loses power for a few hours, and some of it is still without it, and people want to run the place down seeing they just had a bit of bad luck???

Sure, they are not the only people to ever go without electricity for a few hours, but come on, a city of that size is ground to a halt... That IS newsworthy. Its about one third of the countries population effected.

Hell i think if a bomb went off and killed thousands, AK would still be getting **** from southern folk about how its somehow unfair on the southern folk! I'm embarrassed on behalf of all non-Aucklanders

It sounds like some how people think AK deliberately cut their own power just to get a bigger share of media attention and take it from us poor media starved southern folk

us them, us them, us them, AAARRRRGGGGGGGGGGHGHGGHGHHG!

462472 2006-06-12 10:10:00 Hope that aint directed at me, I was bitchin about the news content, not Auckland itself, and the "event" sure as hell aint anymore newsworthy then if the power went off down my street, apart from the incompetence factor.

10 minutes into the coverage they were interviewing idiots outside shops saying cunning things like "the lights aren't on", and panning across a fruit shop, whose cleck stated he was "going to wait it out and see when it came back on"

WOW.

Thats not freakin news, Its dribble.

Hell, my post is dribble as well, but still 10 billion times better dribble then the crap that they pass of as news.

462476 2006-06-12 10:56:00 Why not build a nuclear power station or two in Auckland?

This will solve the power crisis there and save an awful lot of other people having transmission lines over their property.

If, for any reason, one went into meltdown, as some would tell us, then the rest of the country would not have to pay for their roading either.

When I lived in Auckland I had the definite feeling that Sir Dove Meyer had the right idea regarding the transport woes. All for ring roads, light rail and keeping all but essential traffic out of the CBD. That was 30 years ago and sod all has been done since.
